Path to Work Entry Level/Level 1 at Lancaster and Morecambe College

Course description

The focus of this course is to help you develop all of the skills you will need to progress into further training, a Traineeship, an Apprenticeship or to employment. You will be involved in a number of practical enterprise activities to help you develop the skills you need to progress into your chosen career path. You will work in small, supportive groups to help improve selfconfidence, interpersonal skills, Maths and English as well as team work. 

Course content

You will study the following: • Enterprise • Work Experience (as a group or individual both in and out of college) • Teamwork • Maths • English All LMC students will receive tutorial support. 

Entry requirements

You do not need any qualifications to join. You will need a willingness to learn, a commitment to your studies, and enjoy working with people.


This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including building a portfolio of evidence and practical performance. 

Financial information

There will be occasional visits during the year, the costs will be minimal. You may wish to purchase a set of whites for any kitchen based activities (details given at interview). 

Future opportunities

Many students move onto a full time course to gain a vocational qualification and others find employment or move onto a Traineeship and/or Apprenticeship

Further information

You will be expected to undertake occasional home study on this course.

On successful completion of this course you will receive an entry level or level 1 qualification in Employability and nationally recognised maths and English qualifications.
