French A Level at Bitterne Park School

Course description

The four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) will be assessed across both AS and A2.

At AS level, you will study engaging and current topics such as media and technology, popular culture (music, cinema and trends), healthy lifestyles and family and relationships.

At A2, you will study the environment, contemporary social issues and multiculturalism. There will also be a focus on French culture and you will have the opportunity to research cultural issues, literature, the arts, a geographical area or a period of contemporary history from a target language speaking county or community. For example, you could choose to study a novel or play by a famous author such as Victor Hugo.

Why this course

This course will enable you to develop and extend your skills in the target language. You will also increase your knowledge of the French culture by reading about and discussing many aspects of contemporary society.

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of five C grades at GCSE including English and Maths. Desirable, Grade B at GCSE French.
