Course description

This qualification aims to enable learners to develop basic skills in craft, provide underpinning knowledge of the craft process and provide learners with a basic progtression into further study in craft-related areas.

 

The objectives of this qualification are to help learners: develop a portfolio of work in craft, use materials, tools and equipment correctly and safely and develop an understanding of health and safety considerations in a craft environment. 

 

Course content

There are three units:

1. EXPLORE CRAFT IDEAS

2. EXPLORE MATERIALS AND TOOLS TO SUPPORT CRAFT IDEAS

3. PRODUCE CRAFT WORK

Entry requirements

This qualification is suitable for both pre and post 16 learners.

There are no formal entry requirements other than learners must have an interest in the subject and be able to fulfil the requirements of the assessment.

Assessment

Assessment measures the candidates skill, knowledge and undertanding against the qualification standards. This award is internally assessed.

Each learner is reguired to create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of all learning outcomes. The portfolio can capture evidence in a number of exciting ways, like photographs, videos, witness testimonies etc.
