Childcare (Early Years Educator) Level 3 Diploma at Lowestoft College

Course description

This is a more advanced childcare course and anyone who successfully completes the course will achieve a Licence to Practice at Supervisory Level. The qualification can also offer a route in to university as you will also achieve UCAS points.

Course content

The course will support you to develop an understanding of the key aspects of childcare. 

You will study:

  • Child development
  • Promoting safety
  • Safeguarding
  • Children and play
  • Working with families
  • Professionals and professional practice

Entry requirements

Five subjects at GCSE grade C or above (including English and maths).


Assessments for the Level 3 will be through a range of assessments such as:

  • Reports
  • Written presentations
  • Portfolios of evidence

You will also be regularly observed in your work placement.

Future opportunities

Students are supported to progress on to Degrees such as Children’s Care, Learning and Development, Inclusive Practice or Teacher Training, or into related employment such as Nursery Nurse or Family Support Worker.
