Hospitality BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Strode College

Course description

On this one year course you will study subjects that relate directly to the hospitality sector. You will be equipped with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to enter the industry.

The units studied include: Investigating the Hospitality Industry; Teamwork; Food and Beverage; Running an Event; Planning, Preparing, Cooking and Finishing Food.

The course is taught through practical workshops and events allowing you to build a portfolio of work. Self directed study is required on this course.

You will undertake practical activities in a kitchen and restaurant environment and learn about basic food hygiene. There will be visits to a variety of hospitality businesses and suppliers.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE grades E or above including Maths and English Language or equivalent, such as NVQ Level 1 plus a GCSE grade E or above.


This course requires you to build a portfolio of evidence whilst completing practical assessments and written assignments. There will be two online tests. Pearson Exam Board.

Kitchen uniform £55.

Future opportunities

When you complete this course you could progress to a level 3 qualification in hospitality and catering, gain employment in a range of food and hospitality industries or seek an Apprenticeship. Many of our level 2 students progress to our level 3 Extended Diploma in Hospitality.
