Site Carpentry Level 2 at Wiltshire College

Course description

The Diploma Site Carpentry level 2 is for students who have previously completed a level 1 course in Carpentry/Joinery and is a natural progression. The course is also for those completing an NVQ2 in Site Carpentry as the two qualifications can be gained together. Anyone wishing to start at level 2 can do so but will need to cover some units from year 1. This course assumes that the applicant prefers the Site Carpentry aspect as opposed to Joinery.

Course content

You will learn about specialist carpentry techniques including the first fixing components such as floors and roofs, second fix components such as skirting and architrave and carcassing components such as stairs. There is also a unit on maintaining non-structural components.

The programme includes 8 units and an extended timed practical synoptic test. Units covered include:

  • Carry out first fixing operations
  • Carry out maintenance to non-structural carpentry work

  • Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
  • Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools
