BTEC Specialist Diploma in Fashion & Textiles Level 2 at Richmond Adult Community College

Course description

BTEC Level 2 Specialist courses are designed to give adult learners the knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare them for employment or further study at level 3 or 4

Course content

This is a project based course structured around 6 units.These units will cover ideas, materials and techniques relevant to textile and fashion design, and to enable students to explore the potential of a chosen medium and its potential. You will develop skills in surface pattern design, fabric manipulation, and assemblage using techniques and processes. You will explore historical and cultural influences and visit galleries and museums. You will be encouraged to experiment with traditonal and non traditional materials and to analyse your design ideas.

Entry requirements

A minimum of Level 1 Literacy is required for you to be able to read project briefs.


The course is assessed through a range of assessment methods; including presentations, portfolio and sketch book and project work as well as written responses and evaluations. Each project will have an assesment deadline which you will have to meet to continue with and gain the qualification.
