Music Performance Rock School Level 2 Diploma at South Downs College

Course description

Do you enjoy music, play an instrument or sing? Are you interested performing Rock, Pop and Indie music? Are you interested in working with the Sound and Music industry? This may be the course for you!

Course content

Practical Units-

  • Rehearsal Skills
  • Instrumental Workshops
  • Live Performance.

Non-Practical Units-

  • Earning Money from Music
  • Selling Music
  • Music Style Development.

Entry requirements

You will need to have:

  • Four GCSEs at D or above
  • An acceptable level of achievement on an instrument assessed via our audition process
  • A good school report or Record of Achievement

 

Assessment

Practical classes are continually assessed throughout each term. Performances are recorded and graded at the end of each term.

Non-practical units are assessed by a variation of coursework, presentations, essays and written reports.

Future opportunities

Typically, you would progress onto the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music provided your grades at Level 2 are high enough.

Further information

Guitar and bass players must bring their own instruments and tuners.

Drummers must bring sticks and hot-rods.

Singers are encouraged to bring their own microphone but this is not essential.
