Course description

AIMS OF THE COURSE:
To take a broad view of Design and Technology, Food Science and Nutrition in order to develop candidates’ ability to
design and make food based products and to appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture
and marketing.

WHY STUDY THIS SUBJECT?
If you have a passion for food, and enjoy making food based products you will enjoy this subject. You do not have to have already studied Food Technology or another Design Technology course at GCSE but it would be an advantage to have done so.

Course content

AS LEVEL
Two equally weighted units; Examination (Materials, Components and Application) and Design & Make project.

A2 LEVEL
Two equally weighted units; Examination (Design and Manufacture) and Design & Make project.
