Plumbing and Heating - Level 3 at South Devon College

Course description

This advanced apprenticeship in Plumbing and Heating is designed for learners who have completed the intermediate level apprenticeship and are employed by an recognised firm of plumbing and heating gas engineers. The apprenticeship will take three years to complete and when you have achieved the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship, you will gain domestic gas certification for Gas Safe registration, an Unvented Hot Water and Central Heating Systems Certificate and the Water Regulations Certificate, opening up further career opportunities to you and supporting your development in this industry.

Course content

  • Installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining domestic plumbing and heating
  • systems
  • Installing domestic sanitation systems
  • Installing domestic gas water heaters and wet central heating appliances
  • Installing, commissioning and decommissioning gas pipework
  • Electrical work on domestic plumbing and heating systems
  • Core gas safety principles for natural gas

Entry requirements

  • You will be required to have achieved Maths at Level 1
  • You will be required to have achieved English at Level 1
  • You must have completed an appropriate vocational qualification at Level 2
  • You will be required to carry out an aptitude test
  • You should have a genuine interest in this subject
