Complementary Therapies Level 3 Diploma at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College*

Course description

This level 3 course provides a comprehensive background in complementary therapies and prepares the learner for employment in the industry upon completion of the course. Learners will develop a range of skills, underpinning knowledge, as well as the personal qualities and attitudes required to be a successful complementary therapist.

Course content

You will demonstrate your knowledge in a range of areas including:

  • Aromatherapy
  • Reflexology
  • Body massage
  • Reflective practice
  • Health and safety
  • Anatomy and physiology

Entry requirements

Applicants must have a suitable reference, good manual dexterity and verbal communication and possess at least 1 GCSE at grade C or above in English or Maths. A professional, mature and caring attitude is essential.

Assessment

You will be assessed through observation of practical assessments, assignments and written examinations. You will also work with members of the general public who visit our salons and often provide feedback about their treatments. Regular reviews with your tutor will provide you with feedback on your progress.

Future opportunities

You may enter employment or further your studies by taking, for example, a foundation degree in complementary therapies; qualification in sports massage, physiotherapy or another specialist therapy.

Completion of this qualification will provide you with career opportunities such as work in a complementary therapies practice, mobile spa/ therapist, cruise liners, beauty salon and in the hospice/care home environment.
