Child Care - Full Time - Level 2 at Barnfield College

Course description

The Level 2 Certificate is for students who wish to work in the children and young people’s sector.

Students studying on the Certificate will develop knowledge and skills relating to the Early Learning and Childcare workforces.

Students will also be expected to attend a work placement. Personal skills will be developed in addition to English, Mathematics and ICT. There is a mandatory work placement for students.

Entry requirements

- A minimum of 4 x GCSEs at Grade D or above 
- A pass at BTEC Level 1, NVQ Level 1 or VRQ Level 1

English and Maths requirements:
- Minimum of Level 1 English and able to work towards Level 1 Maths

Future opportunities

CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce. You could also move on to other Level 3 qualifications. With the full Certificate at Level 2 you will be able to be employed in a variety of settings at assistant level. Will need a grade C in English & Maths in order to progress.

Further information

Students must have clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service for work placement. This will be discussed at interview.
