Plumbing Level 1 Diploma at Walsall College

Course description

This one year introductory qualification gives learners a taste of the skills involved in Plumbing

During the course you will undertake a variety of practical tasks including:

  • Copper and steel pipework installations
  • Domestic electrical wiring
  • Brazing methods
  • Jointing and pressure testing of completed systems

During the course you will undertake a broad range of basic activities designed to prepare you for entry into the electrical Industry with the primary emphasis on Plumbing. You will be expected to plan, prepare for and carry out hand fitting activities. You will produce a work plan containing job instructions, materials, tools, equipment and components that may be required for the activities.

Entry requirements

By interview and record of achievement. No formal entry qualifications All applicants will undertake an initial assessment to establish level and will also complete a dexterity test in the form of taster days. This will give you an insight into the course and establish suitability.

Assessment

Each unit will be assessed through an assignment which incorporates both theory and practical.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course, the student can progress onto either a level 2 qualification in Plumbing or Plumbing apprenticeship.
