Music Performance & Technology Level 2 Diploma at Stoke on Trent College
This exciting course provides an introduction to the challenging yet enjoyable key elements of music performance and technology. Through practical projects you will learn and develop skills in musicianship, composing and arranging songs, and using MP3, CD or Podcast to promote your own work online. This course maximises your own potential as a musician. There is a wide range of opportunities to showcase your own work, in-house and within the local community.
This exciting vocational course provides an introduction to the challenging yet enjoyable key elements of music performance; practical and theoretical skills through performance. Through practical projects you will learn and develop skills in musicianship, composing and arranging songs, and using MP3, CD or Podcast to promote your own work. This course maximises your own potential as a performer by developing your instrument and musicianship skills. There is a wide range of opportunities to showcase your own work, in-house and within the local community, which prepares you for employment, or further study, in the music industry.
4 GCSEs grade D or above. BTEC Introductory Certificate or Diploma, appropriate NVQ Level 1, or another relevant Level 1 or Foundation qualification. You will have a pre induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you.
Assessment is carried out through centre devised and marked assignments which will use our virtual learning environment (Moodle). This is also where you will receive all your feedback and grades.
This qualification will lead onto internal progression throughout the ascending levels of Diploma, and after Level 3 (Extended Diploma) you will have the required ability to apply for Higher Education courses in related areas, or to enter employment.
Students must also demonstrate appropriate skills by preparing a piece of music ready for an audition. Functional Skills will form an important part of your course; they are skills that we use and need within our study, work and everyday life. They fit into three categories: English, Maths and Information Technology. We have a wide range of high quality specialised facilities here including; a music performance venue, lighting and sound equipment, a newly equipped digital recording studio, and band rehearsal rooms which you will experience during your study.This course is nationally recognised and is the equivalent of four GCSEs graded A-C on completion.At Stoke-on-Trent College we have some of the most comprehensive and up-to-date facilities in the country: the Learning Resources Centres are designed to help and support you by offering information technology facilities, workshops and libraries.
