Entertainment Production & Performance Level 3 Diploma at Somerset College

Course description

This course is ideally suited to those who would like to work in the creative industry of theatrical production.

Throughout the course you will study a range of units encompassing;

  • Costume design and costume making
  • Make-up application
  • Fantasy hairdressing,
  • Wardrobe management
  • Production techniques
  • Set design

You will have the chance for work experience in many local theatres as well as working closely with performers on productions and will develop the skills needed to be employable in the industry.

Entry requirements

• Five GCSEs at grade A* to C including English and an Art 
• Portfolio of work which you will bring to your interview


This course is studio workshop based. You will be taught through practical sessions, lectures, seminars, tutorials, work placements and educational visits. Your progress will be assessed and monitored continuously through tutorials, practical assignments, visual journals, written work and external moderation.

Future opportunities

You could progress on to the Foundation Degree or BA (Hons) Degree in Media Make-up.

Following completion of the Diploma you will able to pursue employment opportunities in related areas within the Production Arts industry.
