ASDAN AoPE at Springhallow Special School
The Award of Personal Effectiveness (AoPE) is a nationally recognised qualification, available at Levels 1 and 2. At Springhallow School AoPE is provided for at Level 1. It can accredit many of the creative and imaginative activities undertaken by learners at Springhallow School. This can also be out of school activities. Assessment is based on a portfolio of evidence. Assessment units encourage the development of communication and personal, learning and thinking skills required for progression to post 16 education in schools, further education, training or employment. Pupils will need to complete six curriculum credits' worth of challenges (60 hours) over two years from an ASDAN student book. At Springhallow this is the ASDAN Bronze / Silver student book. Two ASDAN short courses can also be used for this at Springhallow, Expressive Arts and Enterprise. Pupils will need to use the ASDAN AoPE recording documents to show that they have met the criteria to show for sufficient assessment units to achieve 8 assessment credits: - introduction to working with others / team working - planning and reviewing learning - dealing with problems in daily life - planning and carrying out research - group discussion - preparing for and giving a presentation - developing self
There are no formal entry requirements, however it is anticipated that pupils should be working at entry level 3 to access this level 1 course.
AoPE assessment units encourage the development of the communication and personal, learning and thinking skills required for progression to training and employment.This will assist in preparing for further Level 1 and Level 2 courses either at a sixth form or in tertiary education.
