Physics A Level at Our Lady's Catholic College

Course description

Physics A-level content is split into six teaching modules: Modules 1 to 4 constute the stand-alone AS Level qualificaon; Modules 1 to 6, combined with the Praccal Endorsement, constute the full A Level. The modules can be summarised as:

Module 1: Development of praccal skills.
Module 2: Foundaons of physics.
Module 3: Forces and moon.
Module 4: Electrons, waves, and photons.
Module 5: Newtonian world and astrophysics.
Module 6: Parcles and medical physics.

Entry requirements

GCSE Core + Addional Science Higher Grade B
GCSE Physics Higher – Grade B
Mathemacs Higher Grade 5

Assessment

At AS Level:
Papers 1 and 2 can assess any content from Modules 1 to 4.

At A Level:
Paper 1 assesses content from Modules 1, 2, 3 and 5
Paper 2 assesses content from Modules 1, 2, 4 and 6 plus any material appropriately flagged within the specificaon from Modules 3 and 5
Paper 3 assesses content from Modules 1 to 6.

Future opportunities

A-level Physics is an essenal qualificaon, providing potenal for progression onto university degree courses necessary for many careers including engineering, electronics and meteorology. You will also develop analycal, numerical and problem-solving skills that are highly valuable in a wide range of occupaons and acvies.
