Work based Horse Care Level 3 Diploma at Wrea Green School of Equitation

Course description

consists of 10 mandatory units covering a range of equine skills, knowledge and competencies including; health care, checks and treatments, diets and feeding regimes, clipping, exercise and the performance improvement of horses. Three optional units allow candidates to choose between a range of advanced riding (jumping or non-jumping) trek leader or breeding options.

Entry requirements

Candidates will be expected to have completed the D.E.Q Intermediate Apprenticeship or an alternative equine related qualification at Level 2. Candidates with no formal equine qualification but extensive practical experience within the industry may be considered for direct entry.

In addition to prior qualifications, entry on to the D.E.Q Advanced Apprenticeship is subject to interview and an initial ride and vocational skills assessment with a member of the Horse Power training team. Candidates need to be hard working and passionate about pursuing a career within the equine industry.

Future opportunities

Completion of the D.E.Q Advanced Apprenticeship will make you highly employable within the equine industry.  Candidates may consider further enhancing their knowledge and skills through progressing into Higher Education.  Myerscough College offers a range of full and part-time Foundation Degrees and Honours Degrees in Equine Science or Equine Management.
