English Literature at St Cuthbert's High School

Course description

At this level, students are encouraged to become more critical in their reading and to use their skills and knowledge to interpret a range of texts – from classics such as The Great Gatsby and Frankenstein to more modern texts such as The Kite Runner and The Bloody Chamber. Students are encouraged to become critical in their engagement with genre as they study comedy and the Gothic; also they are taught extensively on narrative and the ways in which stories are told.
