Public Services Diploma Level 2 at New College Stamford
Develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required for a career in the Uniformed Public Services such as Police, Army or the Royal Air Force. You will be stretched and challenged to prepare you for the robust recruitment stages within the services. You will explore units such as:Public service skillsCrime and the effects on societyHealth and fitness for entry in to the public servicesMulti day expeditionsWork experience and voluenteeringThroughout the year you will take part in activities and visits by a range of guest speakers in Uniformed Public Services such as:The Prison ServicePoliceRoyal Air ForceRoyal NavyRoyal MarinesBritish ArmyFire ServiceThere will be opportunities to volunteer and enhance your CV through community based projects in the local area.This course is approximately 80% theory and 20% practical.
Learners will develop skills across the course to prepare them for Public Service employment. This will be through tutor led presentations, team tasks and challenges, student led activities, giving presentations, monitoring personal health and fitness levels and other forms of skill development. You will also have several guest speakers in from the services who will deliver presentations and sessions and be available for Q and A.
4 GCSEs at grades D or above, including English and mathsat grades D/3 or above.
Two of your units are through external exams. Other units will be assessed via practical observations, verbal discussions, written documents, presentations and peer assessment.
Progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services at New College Stamford, or enter employment.
You will be required to be in uniform throughout your days in college in both theory and practical sessions. This will be at a cost of £75 for a basic package with the opportunity to purchase other items if you desire.Course fees will be £50 for the year. This will cover your 2 expedition trips outside of college along with visits to bases etc. throughout the year.A pair of sports trainers is essential (no fashion flat soled footwear)You will be required to attend each lesson with a folder, dividers, plastic wallets and stationary.More information and details will be given at interview.
