Health and Social Care Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma at Farnham College

Course description

You should have an interest in Health and Social Care, enjoy communicating with a range of people and want to make a difference to people's lives in a positive way. You should enjoy meeting people in a range of practical situations and getting involved with delivering care.

The one year course has been designed to prepare students for work in a variety of health and social care settings. 
The course includes 100 hours of practical work placement over the two years duration. This enables you to apply what you learn in the classroom into working in a real care setting.

Course content

Subjects include communication, equality of opportunity, development across all ages, anatomy and physiology and complementary therapies. 


Entry requirements

To study the Extended Diploma, you must have successfully completed the 90 Credit Diploma. 



Teachers will set assignments throughout your course. These may take the form of projects, presentations, written work or research assignments. The important thing is that you evidence your skills and knowledge acquired to date.


Future opportunities

Successful completed of the full Extended Diploma enables you to move directly into the workplace or onto a higher education couse in a health or care related discipline. It provides opportunity for entry into professions such as teaching, nursing or professions allied to medicine.
