Course description

BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Programming & IT is a vocational IT course involving theoretical and practical study of both computer and ICT related topics.

This course will inspire and enthuse learners to be skilled users of technology, developers of IT systems and programmers of the future. Upon completing this course, you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed in an ever changing ICT and Digital environment. This exciting and fast paced course will provide learners with industry standard tools in order to progress to a Level 3 qualification or Apprenticeship. Units include Games Design, Programming and Software Systems Development.

Entry requirements

In order to be accepted on the course you will need a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade D or above including English and Maths or an appropriate level 1 IT qualification along with a Level 1 in Maths and English and ICT. In order to progress to level 3 students must also achieve level 2 Maths and English. You must also demonstrate a keen commitment to study and that you can behave responsibly in a professional environment.

Future opportunities

The course is designed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge to develop ICT, digital and design skills which are relevant to industry. The course can lead to progression onto L3 ICT, Graphic Design, Games Development or a Level 3 Apprenticeship.
