Course content

The course will comprise of 2 modules in Year 12 and 2 modules in Year 13. These will test the 4 skills of Learning/Reading/Speaking  and Writing.

Entry requirements

A willingness to speak the Target Language and exchange ideas is essential. An interest in the countries which speak the Target Language and its culture (films, books, contemporary issues).

A willingness to acquire dictionary skills, grammatical accuracy and much new vocabulary will be required. A higher grade pass in the language at GCSE is essential. Students need to learn to work independently.

Assessment

Both AS and A2 level are assessed by two examinations, one of which is an oral examination.

Future opportunities

Higher Education (University) courses can lead to jobs in business, banking, accountancy, and computing, marketing, journalism as well as the more obvious interpreting and translating and teaching.

The excellent communication skills that you have learnt are a very marketable quality. As there are too few linguists in the job market, you will be sought after by employers.
