English Literature GCSE at The Sixth Form College Colchester

Course description

This course gives you the chance to study a wide range of poetry, fiction and drama. You will have a variety of opportunities to work in different ways in class including discussion, paired and group work and individual notemaking.

When possible, you will see productions of texts we are studying. Your assessment will be by examination and controlled assessment. This means your folder of work will be produced in class time.

The course should help you to improve all your communication skills. NB. To take any English AS levels students ideally need both English Language and English Literature grade C or better at GCSE.

Entry requirements

These are one-year courses open to AS and AFP students and are normally 5 lessons a week. Most of these GCSEs are studied with the objective of entering students for the Foundation or Intermediate tier of the GCSE. Some subjects willenter students at Higher Level and this will be important if you are thinking of taking the subject to AS Level in your second year in College.
