BTEC LEVEL 3 NATIONAL EXTENDED CERTIFICATE IN MUSIC at Valley Park School
The qualification is equivalent in size to one A Level and aims to provide a coherent introduction to study of the music sector. If you wish to take this qualification, you will have successfully completed a Level 2 programme of learning with GCSEs or vocational qualifications. You will study three mandatory units: • Music Performance • Music Composition • Professional Practice in the Music Industry. You will choose one optional unit to support your choice in progression to music courses in higher education, and to link with relevant occupational areas. Optional units cover content areas e.g. Arranging Music, Composing Music, Music Promotion and Solo Performance.
Merit or above at BTEC level 2 or grade 4 in GCSE Music or by audition.
Assessment is specifically designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector.
