Art - Graphic Design AS/A2 at Christ's College Guildford
If you are interested in the design side of Art, Graphics will be appropriate for you. This course allows you to use your imagination whilst designing new logos, advertising, promotional materials and products. You will be able to learn new techniques and develop your drawing skills in both traditional and Computer Aided Design, having been influenced by the work of other designers and styles.
Component 1: Personal investigation 60% This is a practical investigation supported by written material. Students are required to conduct a practical investigation, into an idea, issue, concept or theme, supported by written material. The focus of the investigation must be identified independently by you and must lead to a finished outcome or a series of related finished outcomes.
Component 2: Externally set assignment 40% This is an externally set assignment, to include preparatory research completed in lessons and a final piece completed in fifteen hours controlled conditions.
This is a highly practical course where all your work counts. Idealy you should have achieved at least a C grade at GCSE Art & Design and have a keen enthusiasm for the subject. This is a challenging course so you must be self-motivated and resourceful.
This qualification is essential for a future in the Design world including Illustration, Media, Advertising, Product Design, Interior Design and Games Design.
