Further Mathematics at Rushcliffe School

Course description

The study of Further Mathematics is dependent on also studying Mathematics. The course provides greater breadth and depth of study compared to the A level Mathematics course.

At AS level the units Decision 1 and 2 give greater breadth in applied mathematics. The unit Further Pure 1 gives greater depth and also introduces complex numbers and matrices. To complete the course to a full A level means two more units of pure mathematics and Mechanics 2.

The study of Further Mathematics provides a chance to explore new and/or more sophisticated concepts, to distinguish you as an able mathematician in the university and employment market, and to make the transition to a mathematicsrelated university course easier
