Applied Science Level 3 Extended Diploma at Aylesbury College

Course description

This is the second year of an 18 unit programme where you study a further 9 units in a wide range of subjects. This course has the UCAS equivalence of 3 A levels (Individual HE Degree course requirements need to be checked)

Course content

General understanding of all the main sciences including practical skills. The important practices and procedures used within a scientific workplace as well as communicating science. You will gain an understanding of planning and carrying out laboratory investigations to correct protocols and analysing and applying mathematical techniques. This qualification will build on the units you studied at the 90 credit level and widen your experience of different aspects of science. This qualification will help you to either gain employment as a laboratory technician within a variety of industries or go on to university and extend your scientific knowledge.

Entry requirements

Merit at 90 Credit Diploma level as well as 5 GCSEs at C or above including B/C in Maths, English and Double science You must have a reference from a previous educational establishment and partake in a successful interview


Assignments, Practical assessments, laboratory lab book and controlled assessments

Future opportunities

You will obtain UCAS points equivalent to 3 A2 level qualifications that you can use as entry to Higher Education or Join a company to train further within a number of specialisms.
