Drama and Theatre Studies A Level at JOSEPH LECKIE ACADEMY

Course description

The course focuses on both the theoretical & practical side of drama.  Students are taught a wide range of skills & underpinning knowledge to complete both practical & traditional assessments.   

An A level in drama can help you blossom into a confident young person with fantastic public speaking skllls & the ability to think on your feet. 

 

Course content

Content includes:

Interpretation of play for performance

Theatre practioners

Analysing live productions

Devising work for performance

Entry requirements

Minimum of 5 A* - C grades / grade 5 (new grading structure) at GCSE or equivalent with English & Maths.  Grade B or equivalent in GCSE Drams is preferred. 

Experience of acting & youth theatre is an advantage.

 

Assessment

Students will be expected to perform to an audience as part of the assessment & must be willing to do so. 

Assessment is split into 3 components which include practical performances, written coursework & an exam.

Component 1 - 40%

Component 2 - 20%

Component 3 - 40%
