Course description

AIMS OF THE COURSE:
To extend the skills and knowledge developed at GCSE and to present Biology as a rapidly developing and socially relevant context for the understanding of science and how scientists work.

 

WHY STUDY THIS SUBJECT?
The recent advances in genetic research have made Biology an exciting, cutting-edge discipline and the huge investment in biotech industries guarantees employment opportunities in many biological fields. The current developments in carbon management and offsetting have provided a range of opportunities for biologically trained graduates with environmental interests. Many pupils go on to follow careers in medicine, biochemistry, veterinary science, pharmacy and dentistry.
