Painting and Decorating Diploma Level 1 at Sunderland College

Course description

This course is ideal for anyone interested in Construction and especially painting and decorating. It’s designed to prepare you for entry the industry of your chosen craft.

Course content

During the length of the course you will learn about Painting & Decorating techniques in practical and theory sessions. You’ll also learn about health and safety on construction sites and how important it is. The course also covers various techniques on both paint and paper application and surface preparation. Other key aspects of the course are communicating with other people and learning about numeracy and literacy skills to prepare you for a life in construction.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.


Throughout the length of the course you will learn about the Painting and Decorating  industry in a number of ways such as practical workshop sessions as well as classroom theory sessions where you will learn about all the aspects of plastering.

Further information

After successfully completing this course there are a number of options available. You can advance onto the Diploma level 2 or you could apply for an apprenticeship in your chosen trade.
