European Computer Driving License (ECDL) at Acorn Training Ltd

Course description

ECDL Essentials will provide you with IT skills to use a computer effectively. You will learn how to use E-mail, the Internet and about IT security. 

ECDL Extra will teach you all about using Microsoft Office packages including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint. 

Entry requirements

you need no qualifications to do ECDL, but previous experience of IT or completion of ECDL Essentials would be an advantage before starting ECDL Extra. You must be over 16 years old, willing to leanr and happy to learn from feedback from your tutor.


Your tutor will guide you through each module. When you are ready and confident, your tutor will submit you for the online test. Once you have completed and passed all your modules you will be awarded the ECDL Essentials Level 1 certificate or the ECDL Extra level 2 certificate.

Future opportunities

after ECDL Essentials you can do the next level - ECDL Extra (level 2 certificate) and learn all about Microsoft Office applications. 

After ECDL Extra your tutor will advise you on what courses or pathways are available and most suited to your needs. You can progress on to an ITQ Intermediate or an Advanced Apprenticeship, you can apply your IT skills to a specialist area of work, and you can add your new qualification to your CV.
