Sport and Physical Activities Level 2 at Isle of Wight College
English and Mathematic skills are essential to education and employment prospects. UKSA is committed to supporting levels of English and Mathematic development throughout programmes. Where necessary, English and Maths sessions will be included in the study programme as a compulsory element. These sessions are in addition to the contextualised English and Maths that is embedded into every vocational programme at UKSA.THE COURSE
This intermediate programme offers an excellent entry point into employment as an instructor or coach in both land and water industries. Skills and knowledge within various sports and activities will be gained. The sports and activities will range from traditional sports such as football and sailing to ultimate Frisby and navigational hikes. How the body works during exercise will also form part of the studies and students are encouraged to plan and lead groups. Entry to advanced study programmes is available for those gaining merit and distinction grades.
Candidates will be working towards the successful completion of a Level 2 Diploma in Sport and the Outdoors. The awarding body for this qualification is NCFE. NCFE is a national Awarding Organisation, passionate about designing, developing and certificating diverse, nationally recognised qualifications. The units within the qualification follow the QCF (Qualification and Credit Framework). The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) introduces a standard currency for learner achievement across the qualifications system and different awarding bodies through the awarding of credit values.

The Isle of Wight College is fully committed to developing and improving the skills of young people. This includes ensuring that learners work towards achieving GCSE grades A*-C in English and Mathematics if they do not already hold these qualifications. English and maths at GCSE grades A*-C are essential qualifications for progression within further education and to higher education and employment.
If you have a GCSE grade D or below in Maths and/or English you will be placed on an English/maths programme at college to support your skills and progression in these subject areas. These skills are essential for employment and will be an integral part of your vocational programme.
