Children and Young Peoples' Workforce Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship at Wiltshire College
The children and young people’s workforce makes up approximately 10% of the labour market in England and includes people working in all sectors of the economy. A large number are public sector employees, including in schools, colleges, local authorities and the NHS.
At this level, apprentices tend to work in settings or services whose main purpose is children’s care, learning and development. Workers in this area make sure children are looked after, kept active, happy and nourished. They also help children develop social and practical skills.
This Apprenticeship gives people a fulfilling opportunity to work with children and young people while also gaining an understanding into the ‘how’s’ and ‘whys’ of their development.
On this apprenticeship you will learn about the theory behind childcare, how and why certain characteristics develop and how to care for each child equally.
As an apprentice, your exact role will depend on your employer and the age of the children you care for.
Mandatory units include;
The communication and personal development of children
Equality, diversity and inclusion in a childcare setting
How to provide a positive environment and how to support positive behaviour
