Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design at Trafford College

Course description

The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design will provide you with opportunities to sample a wide range of specialist areas and produce a portfolio that will help you to progress onto study at Higher Education or employment.During the first year, lessons will include 2D, 3D, Textiles, Graphics, Print, Computer Arts and Contextual Studies.During the second year, you will choose a specialist subject from Textiles, 3D, Fine Art, or Visual Communication. Work in your specialist area will be supported and enhanced throughout the second year through a programme of study which will include Print, Photography and Digital Arts, Personal and Professional Development, and Life Drawing.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and maths, Art (or design subject) a satisfactory school reference and a successful interview.

Assessment

Your work will be assessed at key points during both years, according to a 'year plan' which will be provided during your course induction. During the Summer term of Year 2, you will work on a Final Major Project on a theme of your own choice which will be displayed in the End of Year Exhibition.

Future opportunities

The majority of students choose to progress onto study at Higher Education institutions (university). We have an excellent record of supporting students in gaining a place at HE.
