Media GCSE at The Beacon School

Course description

Students taking GCSE Media Studies will develop the skills necessary to analyse media texts, understand how and by whom they are produced, explore issues of media ownership and to appreciate how new technologies are changing the way in which we consume the media. The media are considered in terms of form and content, language, representation, instititution and audience. You will have the opportunity to discuss and write about your experiences of and personal responses to media.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Media Studies or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to the media such as a Journalist, Newspaper Editor or TV Producer. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
