Public Services (Level 1) at Central College Nottingham
This course will teach you the skills, discipline and knowledge you need if you would like to join the Police, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Prison Service, Army, Royal Navy, RAF or Marines.
Subjects / Modules include:
- Career progression
- Working in a team
- Introduction to expedition skills
- Taking part in exercise and fitness
- Developing personal skills for leadership
- Improving health and fitness
You will also study Functional Skills in English and Maths in addition to group and one to one tutorials. English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.
One of the following:
- 4 GCSEs at grades D-G including English Language and Maths
- A relevant Entry 3 qualification, plus you will need to complete an English and Maths assessment to determine the right course and support for you.
Adults who are aged 19+ without the necessary qualifications are welcome to apply.
Continuous assessment in each of the 11 units. Functional Skills in English and Maths are assessed by exams.
Continue studying by progressing on to a Level 2 Diploma in Public Services.
Pursue a career in the armed or emergency services.
To support your application we will ask you to bring in a school report.
Sensible clothing will need to be worn in classrooms and some uniform is provided for visits, practical units and expeditions for which there will be a small charge (£65). Financial assistance from the college may be available to support this.
