Physics A-Level at The West Bridgford School

Course description

The course includes: Mechanics, Electricity, Energy, properties of materials, fields, quantum theory and waves.

It involves quite a lot of experimental work and has significant demands mathematically, mostly in terms of algebra.

The department runs several trips to lectures and other physics related work places.

Students are strongly encouraged to participate in these extra-curricular activities and find they enhance their UCAS statements and support them in interviews.

YEAR 12:

Unit 1 Physics on the Go (exam)

Unit 2 Physics at Work (exam)

Unit 3 Exploring Physics (Practical)

YEAR 13 :

Unit 4 Physics on the Move (exam)

Unit 5 Physics from Creation to Collapse (exam)

Unit 6 Experimental Physics (Practical)

 

 

Entry requirements

Grade B in GCSE Physics - plus Grade A in GCSE Mathematics would be ideal, within one of the below:

3 A Level subjects + General Studies: 3 Grade B in chosen subjects + 2 Grade C, including Grade B in Maths & English Language

4 A Level subjects + General Studies: 2 Grade A/A* + 2 Grade B in chosen subjects + 1 Grade C, including Grade B in Maths & English Language
