If you are a highly motivated individual with a passion for engineering and wishing to pursue a career in electrical or electronic engineering this is the course for you.

During the course a range of subjects are covered that will introduce the various aspects of Mechanical and Electrical engineering that will provide you with the required grounding in mathematics, science, production and inspection, project planning and implementation that is essential in the modern engineering workplace.

You will mainly be based in the Training Centre for up to 12 months, which is one of the UK’s leading Training Centres for manufacturing and engineering. This time will enable you to develop high level skills whist gaining on and off the job training.

Course content

To gain the full apprenticeship, you must achieve the minimum components that make up the full framework.

You will study the practical skills required for completing the Level2  Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence).

This consists of a choice of three engineering units suitable for your chosen interest.

Alongside this you will gain skills and knowledge in the Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering - Mechatronics Maintenance Technician (Development Competence).

You will gain skills and knowledge in of the following:

·         Designing electronic circuits

·         Controlling semiconductor manufacturing process

·         Controlling printed circuit and allied circuit assembly

·         Leading electronic component manufacture

·         Leading printed circuit and allied circuit assembly

·         Leading electronic assembly

·         Testing electronic circuits

·         Manufacturing of transformers and inductors

·         Manufacturing electrical motors and generators

·         Manufacturing electrical control systems equipment

·         Testing electrical equipment

Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Developing Knowledge) Subject Specific, This is the technical certificate, which is delivered on a day release basis at the AMRC.

Functional Skills Level 2 - Maths, English & ICT ( If required, see note below).

Enrichment / Master Classes will also be provided in a number of additional areas that are relevant to personal development and the engineering sector.

Note – As the entry requirements are 5 GCSE’s A – C we would expect that you are working at this level and have the relevant qualifications to demonstrate this. 

If these have been achieved within 5 years of starting your apprenticeship and they are the correct grade you will be exempt from doing functional skills.

Entry requirements

You will need  5 GCSE’s  A – C or 4-9 including Mathematics, English and Science.

Assessment

Your qualification will be continually assessed through oral, observation, written and practical work.

Certification will be on completion of your portfolio of evidence.

In addition, this qualification would allow you to progress onto a Level  5 qualification, such as a Foundation Degree with the University of Sheffield.

 

Further information

Training is delivered as follows:

Block Programme - 26 weeks on a full time basis in AMRC Training Centre where the units from the Level 2 are achieved and then day release for the remainder of the programme and the achievement of the Level 3 Extended Advanced Diploma.
