Course description

Being a vehicle mechanic is challenging, hands-on work, as every vehicle will present a new problem to solve. You will have the ability to work quickly and pay attention to detail, as well as having up-to-date knowledge of vehicle developments.

What will you do?

  • Typical daily activities for apprentices in this sector include:
  • Fixing and maintaining cars and vans
  • Removing and replacing engine componements, electrical units and chassis units
  • Carrying out routine vehicle maintenance

Entry requirements

Level 2 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or Auto Electrics.

Financial information

You will be paid a salary whilst completing your apprenticeship. All training costs are covered by government funding and/or your employer.

Future opportunities

You could progress on to more specialist qualifications or go on to own your own garage.
