Access to Further Education (Foundation Learning) at Bradford College
Foundation Learning is for young people aged 16-18 who have not gained GCSEs, or have low grades. Completion of this course will help you enter a vocational area of your choice whilst gaining the qualities and attitudes required by employers across the vocational sector. The course also provides you with the opportunity to sample different vocational areas in which you may be interested in progressing to upon completion of this course.
If you are aged 16-18, with few or no qualifications, then a Foundation course is a great way to study an area that interests you. At the same time, you will gain work-related skills and experience.
We will also help you with personal development and other life skills.
Experience has shown that students on our courses grow in confidence, and many stay with us to extend their education or go into an Apprenticeship whilst others go on to get a job.
You can choose one of three pathways:
- Art and Design pathway
- General pathway (involves tasters in a range of subject areas before you select your chosen subject. Available subject areas include: Art, Catering, Childcare, Drama, Hairdressing, ICT, Motor Vehicle Studies or Sport)
- Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy pathway
There are no formal entry requirements other than you should be aged 16-18.
