Physics AQA AS Level at LBTS6 - Lilian Baylis Technology School

Course description

AS Level Physics looks in depth at radioactivity, waves and mechanics before considering a variety of interesting topics like electricity. You will be involved in discussions, practical investigations and exercises to ensure that you are well prepared for your examinations. There is no coursework on this course. However, your performance during practical work will be assessed. 

Course content

The course itself is comprised of 5 main sections:

AS level Units:

  • Measurements and their errors
  • Particles and radiation
  • Waves
  • Mechanics and energy
  • Electricity

Entry requirements

Students require a minimum of 5 A* - B grades at GCSE, including a B grade or above in English and Mathematics and Science.


Paper 1: 1hr 30min written examination (covers all AS topics)

Paper 2: 1hr 30min written examination (cover all AS topics, practical and data analysis)
