Health and Social Care (OCR National) at George Salter Academy

Course description

This course has been developed to recognise learners skills, knowledge and understanding of the health, social care and early year’s sector and the settings, job roles, principles and values involved. Learners carry out a range of tasks that have been designed to recognise their achievements in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the workplace.

Progression routes from this course

Social work, nursing and midwifery, social care, counselling and psychological services, teaching, children’s and family services.

Modules/units

Unit 1: Working to Quality Practice in Care Settings

Unit 2: Working with Service Users in a Care Setting

Unit 3: Behavioural Awareness in Care

Unit 4: Applied Practical Care

There are two further optional units which are set by staff.

Assessment

All units of work are internally assessed and then externally moderated by an OCR visiting moderator. There are no external tests or examinations.

Entry requirements

OCR Nationals health and social care Level 2 (pass) Grade C at English
