Dance GCSE at Kingsthorpe College

Course description

The GCSE Dance course is a varied and interesting course, consisting of Performance, Choreography and Appreciation of different dance styles.

Course content

The course aims to inspire, move and change you by following a broad, satisfying and worthwhile course.

You are encouraged to make informed decisions about further learning opportunities and career choices.

Your technical, expressive and physical skills will improve, which in turn improves your individual qualities as a performer.

Assessment

Unit 1

Critical Appreciation of Dance (Written Paper) - 20%

Unit 2

Set Dance - 20%

Unit 3

Performance in a Duo / Group based on a professional work - 20%

Unit 4

Choreography - 40%

(Solo - 15% based on a professional work and Solo / Duo / Group - 25% from a set stimulus)
