History at Uckfield Community Technology College School Sixth Form

Course description

Historical events have shaped society worldwide into what it is today. An A-Level history study can help you understand the value and significance of world and national events of the past. You will gain a deeper understanding of social, cultural, religious and ethnic diversity; become skilled at asking questions, sometimes awkward ones; learn not to take everything at face value; develop empathy and understanding of the actions and achievements of others; learn to put over your point of view and argue it well; use evidence to draw conclusions and make judgements. You will be able to look beyond current events to see their underlying historical causes. History involves a number of transferable skills, and students often also take Geography or Sociology. History also supports other specialist subjects, like English Language/Literature, Politics and Philosophy.
