English Literature A Level at Imberhorne School

Course description

English literature is a course  for students who enjoy reading as well as developing thier ideas through discussion and close textual analysis. Students study a range of texts within a particular theme. They also gain an understanding about the contexts in which these texts were written and about the different ways they were received in the past and can be read now.

Entry requirements

To study this subject you will need a minimum of five GCSE subjects at Grade A*‐C. You should have achieved a CC at GCSE for English Language and Literature or CC English Language and Media.

Future opportunities

English literature is a highly regarded qualification. It is an essential qualification for a wide range of Higher Education courses, especially those relating to the worlds of communication in the Arts and the media, there are few areas of life which do not benefit from increased skills of critical analysis and personal expression.
