Design & Technology Textile Technology at Moor End Academy

Course description

GCSE Textiles Technology enables students to demonstrate their creativity, with the design and making of textile products.  Students are encouraged to design and make innovative products with orginality, using a range of materials and techniques.  Students can either develop ideas as a fashion or interior designer for their final design brief.  This is an exciting subject for students who wish to work with the textiles or fashion industry.

Course content

For pupils interested in working within textile and fashion design. The Textiles Technology course offers an insight into the commercial use of textiles as a manufacturing material and explores different designing and making processes. The coursework is made of two components:· Designing and Making


Coursework is worth 60% of the overall grade.Written exam is worth 40 % of the overall grade. The written exam is in two tiers:· Higher tier· Foundation tier. The written exam for all D & T subjects is two hours long and will take place in the summer
