Further Mathematics A Level at Richard Rose Central Academy
As with A Level Maths, the course consists of six units – three taken in each year. However, students have a good deal of choice as to which units they study. The only compulsory units are Further Core 1 in the lower sixth and Further Core 2 in the upper sixth. The other four units can then be chosen from Further Core 3, Mechanics 2 and 3, and Statistics 2 and 3. Due to the limited number of teaching hours, students are required to do a considerable amount of autonomous study.
A* GCSE Mathematics
Further Mathematics is sometimes required for entrance to some of the more prestigious universities to read for a degree in Mathematics itself. But it is also very useful for students who intend to study Physics or any of the Engineering disciplines and is encouraged by most universities.
