Sports Performance Academies - Football/Rugby League BTEC Diploma in Sport (Level 3) at Hopwood Hall College

Course description

Our Sports Performance Academies are for those who have a talent for football or rugby.
A ‘work hard play hard’ ethos is expected of all students and a balanced approach to the sporting/ academic demands of the programme is essential.
Our two Sports Performance Academies are run by qualified, highly respected and well-known professional coaches. We have developed a unique training programme which includes specialist advice on nutritional, sports therapy, sports psychology and skills development.
Football Academy (Men’s) Competitive fixtures mean that students must be under 19 at the start of the course.
Rugby League/Football Academy (Men’s) Places at the academy are subject to maintaining the required academic standard.

Course content

The programme is delivered alongside a traditional educational qualification, such as:
• Level 3 BTEC courses (equivalent to 3 A Levels)
• Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Sport (1 year)
• Level 1 BTEC Sport & Active Leisure
The Level 3 course is designed as a two year study programme but there is an option to undertake a diploma in one year instead. Please ask for more details at your interview.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade C or above to include English and Mathematics OR BTEC Level 2 qualification OR NVQ Level 2 OR VRQ Level 2.

Financial information

No cost for 16-19 year olds.

      By Road: 
      The Middleton Campus is two miles from junction 20 on the M62. Take the A627(M) towards Oldham and leave at first junction and follow signs to Middleton.
      By Rail: 
      The Castleton rail station is 2 miles from the Middleton campus, and takes around ten minutes to reach by bus.
      By Bus: 
      The No. 17 bus service runs frequent between Rochdale and Manchester approximately every ten minutes and stops at the entrance to the Middleton Campus.
