French AS Level at Graveney School

Course description

The aim of the course is to develop language and study skills. The emphasis is on the practical use of French, the ability to communicate effectively in the spoken and
written language and to exchange information, ideas and opinions. The course develops an awareness of French culture and society. This is achieved through watching films through the press, radio and television. There is also an opportunity to do a one-week work experience placement in France.

 

Course content

The course is topic based and in Year 12 we deal with: Changes in French society, family structure, education and the world of work; Political and artistic culture, including music, media, festivals and traditions; The opportunity to study a work of literature and/or
film.

Listening, Reading and Translation into English (1 hour 45 mins)
Written Response to Works and Translation into French
(1 hour 40 mins)
Speaking Exam (12-15 mins)
A level (Year 13)
Listening, Reading and Translation into English (2 hours)
Written Response to Works and Translation into French
(2 hours 40 mins)
Speaking Exam (16-18 mins)
